The Good Old British Weather!
I don’t about where you are, but here in the UK we’ve had almost a year’s worth of weather in just a few weeks!
A little while ago, we had a day of glorious sunshine – you would think it was an early summer’s day. I called up a friend to see if she wanted to meet up outside and go for a walk and a coffee.
‘Oh, I’d love to, but I’ve got a few things I need to do around the house today- how about I meet you tomorrow instead?’
So I agreed, and spent my day making the most of the sunshine.
The following day, I thought I’d slept for 8 months and woken up in December – it was freezing outside, and it was actually snowing! In April! I called up my friend.
‘Looks like we won’t be meeting up today – the weather’s horrendous! What a shame we couldn’t meet yesterday.’
So that was that.
But this little exchange got me thinking, and there are 2 things that really came home to me that week.
First, as the old saying goes, you’ve got to make hay while the sun shines. You never know what tomorrow will bring, so you’ve got to make the most of today. It’s no coincidence that this blog is called ‘A Better Today’, and not ‘A Better Tomorrow’.
And secondly, if the sun isn’t shining, maybe you should just make hay anyway! We have a tendency to wait until everything is just right before we do something – we’ll meet when the sun’s out, I’ll start saving when I get a new job, I’ll go to the gym when I’ve lost some weight. We often seem to wait until it’s the ‘right time’ to do something.
But the reality is, that perfect time will never come. You just need to start.
If you recognise yourself here, then maybe today is the day that you do something different.
If you feel like you’re missing opportunities, and want to be living your best life, then start by joining our weekly challenge.
If you join me, then each week I’ll set a challenge to help you make your life better in some small way. It might be improving your mental health, physical health, financial health, or just generally making you a stronger person. And it’s not going to be wishy-washy ‘think yourself thin’ stuff. It’s proper things to do that will change the way you think and act, and the choices you make.
I don’t have all the answers, but the reality is that you already have most of them – I’m just going to help you find them.
